Water & Sanitation
Water Access Intervention – Chiradzulu District (2025)
Rural communities relied on unsafe and distant water sources, with women and children bearing the daily burden of water collection.
CHIMKA conducted a needs assessment, developed a community-informed proposal, secured funding from the Marmont Foundation, and supervised the drilling of 4 new boreholes and rehabilitation of 1 non-functional borehole.
Energy
Energy for Education Initiative
A rural primary school serving 200+ students had no reliable electricity, limiting digital learning, study hours, and access to educational resources.
With funding from Global Change Makers, CHIMKA designed and implemented a solar–wind hybrid renewable energy system providing reliable, sustainable electricity.
Youth Development
Building the Next Generation of Changemakers
Primary and secondary school students lacked exposure to future possibilities, leading to low academic aspirations and high school dropout rates.
Structured mentorship, leadership training, life-skills development, and connections to relatable role models from similar backgrounds demonstrating attainable success.
Agriculture
Empowering the Communities Initiative (2021)
Smallholder farmers lacked access to reliable, affordable energy for irrigation, reducing agricultural productivity and household food security.
CHIMKA developed an integrated biogas and solar-powered irrigation system, reducing dependence on costly and environmentally harmful fuel sources.
Capacity Building
Capacity Building Program (2025)
Many university students and professionals in Malawi struggled to conduct high-quality research due to limited exposure to practical data analysis tools and methods.
CHIMKA delivered hands-on training in statistical software, research methods, data cleaning, analysis, and interpretation for students and professionals.
Research
Malaria Research & Economic Evaluation
Need for cost-effective and sustainable malaria prevention strategies in rural areas.
